From Boardroom to Boundary: Dan Maskell Brings Leadership to the Cricket FieldIt was fantastic to have both of our Presidents, Dan Maskell and Tamara Larder, at Burgess Hill Cricket Club last night for our Youth Softball Presentation Evening. Their support—both on and off the field—makes a huge impact, and we’re excited to celebrate their very first Presidents Day tomorrow at SJP.

“Burgess Hill Cricket Club is situated in the heart of Burgess Hill, Mid Sussex. We are Clubmark accredited by the ECB, who along with the Sussex Cricket Board have designated us as a Focus Club. We run five sides on a Saturday, all playing in the Sussex County League. We also have two women’s teams competing in the Sussex Women’s Premier League, with matches on Sunday afternoons, as well as a women’s softball team that plays a mix of competitive and friendly fixtures against other Sussex clubs.”

As Managing Director of Finance Planning, Dan brings with him a wealth of experience in performance management, communication, and team development. These transferable skills aren’t just valuable in the boardroom—they’ve proven just as effective at grassroots level, helping to create a supportive and ambitious environment for players of all ages and abilities.

It’s not just Dan who’s caught the cricket and mortgage bug. His son is quickly following in his footsteps, with a growing passion for the game and the family business—whether it’s with bat in hand or learning the ropes of financial advice.

Both Burgess Hill Cricket Club and Finance Planning are proud of Dan’s commitment to making a difference. His involvement reflects the wider culture at Finance Planning—giving back to the local community, supporting initiatives that matter, and helping people thrive both on the pitch and in life.
